2026 CONFERENCE THEME

Headlines in Hakuba draws inspiration from the stunning Japanese Alps setting of Hakuba, a location that has become synonymous with transformative gatherings and visionary leadership. Just as the Hakuba Forum brings together educational leaders to forge connections and inspire innovative solutions, our conference creates a similar environment for women in law and business to collaborate and drive meaningful change.

The name “Headlines” represents our focus on women making headlines in their respective fields, much like the milestone achievements we’ve seen in Japan’s legal community where women have recently reached critical representation thresholds and taken top leadership positions. In 2024, women surpassed 30% of successful bar examination applicants in Japan for the first time, and women now hold the two top positions for lawyers and public prosecutors.

By hosting our conference in Hakuba, we’re creating a retreat-like atmosphere that encourages both structured professional development and unstructured networking, allowing participants to build genuine relationships while creating actionable plans for transformation in law and business.

Women in Law and Business has a goal of encouraging and inspiring women to support and champion each other, all within the breathtaking natural beauty of the Hakuba Valley.
